The Piano Institute includes two to three curriculum tracks completely tailored to pianists. The Music Reader Presto, Piano Ensemble track, and the Well-Rounded Performance track which includes two additional performance masterclasses during the week. Music Reader Presto focuses on building reading skills through ear training, and ensemble playing for beginning students ages 5-8. The Ensemble track focuses on 4-6 hand music for students 7 years old and older, while the Well-Rounded track focuses on musicianship and solo performance for students age 10+.
Curriculum usually includes:
Multiple levels of Music theory and improvisation, lessons in piano mechanics/technique-touch-tone, warm-ups focusing on Kovacs, Feldenkrais, and Alexander technique for pianists, festival choir, masterclasses, coached practice sessions, musical styles, and a final performance for all participants at the end of the week.
