Slice of Art tours for students in grades 3-12 are age appropriate and designed to capture the student’s imagination. The tours include connections to science, social studies, and other subject areas. The Center’s Slice of Art coordinator works with teachers to develop curriculum connections and leads discussions in the galleries relevant to issues in student’s lives. After the gallery tour, students enjoy a pizza lunch and refreshments followed by a forty-five minute art-making workshop using high quality artist’s materials. The Program is listed in the Sarasota County School System’s EdExplore SRQ as an approved activity for outside classroom learning.
Each Slice of Art Tour for students serves up to 20 participants per visit (not including chaparones) and includes:
Art Supplies (high quality acrylic paints, paper and paint brushes)
Bus transportation (using Sarasota County School Buses)
One Substitute Teacher
A Slice of Art Teacher/Coordinator and Art Center Volunteers
Pizza and refreshments
Slice of Art Tours are qualified explorations in Sarasota County's EdExplore SRQ program with benchmarks for teachers.
