Done properly, fishing with kids is fun and funny, but the wrong captain can easily ruin a child's enthusiasm for fishing by, frankly, being a jerk. There are plenty of them around. I'll teach the kids about the different species we are catching and how to properly set the hook. Beside all the covert learning they'll be doing, they'll also be catching a nice bunch of fish for me to fillet for their dinners.
