Fruitville Library

The Fruitville Public Library is a designed to offer residents of eastern Sarasota County and Lakewood Ranch all the conveniences of a state-of-the-art, full-service library.

The Friends’ Bookstore is a wonderful little gem located inside the Fruitville Library. The Bookstore is run by the Friends of the Fruitville Public Library, staffed completely by dedicated, book-loving volunteers 6 days a week, year-round. You can purchase gently-used hardcover and paperback books in a variety of genres (both fiction and non-fiction), magazines, music cassettes, DVDs and VHS movies, CDs, Audio Books, children’s books and even jigsaw puzzles for surprisingly low prices.

There is also a Reading Garden that attracts several species of butterflies and birds, has herb and scented plants, fruit trees, Florida native plants, cacti and succulents, ground cover and ornamental grasses, flowering trees, bromeliads and more. Walk along the engraved brick path under the arbors and relax on a bench in a shaded area or in the Storybook Cottage and enjoy the sculptures, the fountain, and the beautiful landscaping. You are sure to see a butterfly!
